Deputy Finds Keys Left in Cars at Local Dealership
According to the dealership, the incident was an oversight.
Oakland County Sheriff's Deputies with the Highland Substation were patrolling the lots at local dealerships throughout the township March 5 when they found something interesting.
According to the report, one deputy found full sets of keys sitting in the doors of at least seven vehicles.
The report states that the deputy contacted the dealership to let them know that the keys were with the vehicles, the owner came to the lot, removed the keys and told police it was an oversight.
"We've been going around the lots because we've had a rash of tires and rims being taken from cars at dealerships," Det. Jim Bowie. "Luckily our deputy was alert and saw this before anything bad could happen."
