Highland Parent Cited for Hosting Party
Highland Deputies say a Highland parent hosted a Halloween party where underage drinking was taking place.
Deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff's Offices were called to a home on Orban in Highland for a medical run, and ended up citing a man for hosting a party where underage drinking took place.
When deputies arrived, they spoke to an 18-year-old who lived at the home.
According to the report, she told police that her friend, also 18, had been drinking tequila most of the night and got sick.
They found the teen in the bathroom of the home, passed out. The teen was transported to the hospital for treatment.
The deputies noted the other 18-year-old smelled heavily of intoxicants and gave her a preliminary breath test. She registered a .145 blood alcohol level - .08 is the legal limit.
The teen told deputies that her father was in the home, upstairs. Deputies asked the father to come down.
The report states that the father told police they throw a Halloween party every year for the kids. The deputies told the father that it was the parents' responsibility to ensure there was no underage drinking at the party.
The father was issued a citation for for hosting a party where underage drinking took place.
