Hunters Issued Warning After Shotgun Pellets Fall On School Bus

White Lake Police have concluded their investigation into the duck hunt incident that happened at a bus stop for Huron Valley Schools on Thursday morning.

The hunters involved in Thursday's incident at a White Lake bus stop were given verbal warnings from White Lake Police, according to officials with the department.

The warnings were given following the investigation into an incident where shotgun pellets fell onto a Huron Valley Schools bus Thursday morning at Cumberland and Valley Rise, which is a bus stop for Brooks Elementary School.

"The officer on the scene felt a warning was appropriate, and the department agrees," Lt. Don Nankervis said.

Nankervis said the hunters were not in violation of the township's Hunting Area Control Ordinance - and that this time of the year hunters are out several places in the township where it's legal to hunt.

"If we get complaints, we follow them up and will assist the Department of Natural Resources if an investigation is warranted," Nankervis said.
