Lakeland Wrestler Earns First Place During Weekend Tournament
Tanner Graham holds a 22-5 record this season for the Lakeland wrestling team.
The following is from Lori Sokoll.
On Jan. 5 the Eagles hosted their annual Lakeland Invitational Tournament. First year head coach, James Tippen, shook things up a bit by entering two teams, thus allowing every single Eagle to compete.
The battles were tough, the competitors strong and the emotions intense.
In the end Lakeland placed 8th out of 14 teams and sent four guys to the podium. Placers that day include sophomores Dominic Paterra at 5th, Andy Bovey at 3rd and Jake Sokoll at 5th.
The brightest light of the day shone as Tanner Graham secured first place in the championship match held under the spotlight. At 5-0 for the day, and 22-5 for the season, Graham undoubtedly wrestled his best ever in what some called a "season changing event."
As January brings a new focus and greater determination for the most dedicated of grapplers, Graham continues to exemplify what this class of wrestler is made of: strength, leadership, desire and determination.
