Lakeland Wrestlers Show They Are A Growing Force

Lakeland wrestling parent Lori Sokoll said the team continues to grow their confidence with strong performances on the mat.

The following was written by Lori Sokoll.

This past week Lakeland traveled to cross-town rival Milford for a Quad-Meet. The Mustangs won that contest but Lakeland came out on top against Pickney the same day.

On Friday, December 21 every high school in Oakland County began competing in the two day Oakland County Championship Tournament. This is a grueling battle and at the end of day one, the Eagles had four wrestlers qualify to return on Saturday.

Once again, senior captain Tanner Graham led the way as three sophomores followed him; Dominic Paterra at 112lbs, Andy Bovay at 171lbs and Jake Sokoll at 285lbs.

Day 2 is known as one of the toughest days of the season, as the top 16 wrestlers from each weight class across the county meet to determine who is the best of the best that day.

Although none went on to earn medals it was a remarkable showing for the team and a strong indicator of a solid future for the Lakeland Wrestlers.
