Loaded Gun Taken From Car in White Lake

White Lake Police are looking for any information about gun that was taken from an unlocked White Lake vehicle.
According to the report, the gun, a loaded .45 caliber hand gun, was taken from an unlocked vehicle on the 1000 block of McCatty.
The incident happened sometime between Jan. 16 and Jan. 17.
The report states there are no suspects at this time, and the incident remains under investigation.

The police told everyone to lock their car (now you know why) even in their own driveway, next time you might want to listen.

oh seriously who ever would leave their gun overnight outside in a car, sitting in driveway shouldnt own a gun! let alone unlocked car.

not myself possessing a carry permit, can someone who does hold a carry permit comment: is the carrying of a loaded handgun in a vehicle something that one needs a carry permit for? And does the "losing" of one's loaded handgun from one's unlocked vehicle result in one losing one's carry permit? The nutjobs all screaming at each other over in this other comment thread (see http://whitelake.patch.com/articles/obama-gun-control-proposals-unveiled-whats-your-take-721c3722#comments) seem to be all about whether there are sufficient background and training classes and such. But I haven't seen any enlightening screaming that discusses one way or the other if one can lose one's carry permit for being negligent (or grossly negligent) in the care and safekeeping of one's handgun.

Yes you have to have a conceal an carry lisence and they are not allowed to take it into the school. And as far as loosing their lisence we can hope.

So, this resident exercises his or her right to protect their family with a gun, but doesn't exercise his or her right to protect their possessions with locks. I wonder if their house is locked. If this gun was stolen (which I am hesitant to believe), the resident now has an armed assailant that knows where they live and knows that locks aren't a high priority in the household.
