Local Senator, Representative Perfect in 2012
Rep. Eileen Kowall and Sen. Mike Kowall did not miss one of their respective legislative votes in 2012, according to a nonpartisan vote-tracking website.
State Rep. Eileen Kowall (R-White Lake) and Sen. Mike Kowall (R-White Lake) can add perfect attendance to their 2012 accomplishments — or, at least, a perfect voting record.
The nonpartisan vote-tracking website michiganvotes.org — which compiles the voting histories of lawmakers in the Michigan House and Senate — noted that Eileen Kowall did not miss one of the House's 904 votes in 2012; and Mike Kowall voted in all of the Senate's 1082 votes.
Eileen Kowall represents Michigan’s 44th District, which includes White Lake and Highland. State representatives are elected for two-year terms and are limited to three terms.
Mike Kowall represents Michigan's 15th District, which includes both White Lake and Highland. State senators are elected for four-year terms and are limited to two terms.
Michiganvotes.org notes that missed votes by legislators may be due to illness, family emergencies, or other good reasons. In addition, members of the House and Senate majority and minority leadership teams are sometimes required to be off the floor during votes.

Both Eileen and Mike Kowall are perfect examples of why term limits aren't working. I wish they could both be re-elected.

Both Eileen and Mike are why people detest politicians. They repeatedly lied about not increasing taxes and then as soon as Snyder asked, they jumped at the chances to increase taxes. They both should run as liberal democrats because that is what they are, tax and spend is what they believe in. I would rather they had never voted on anything as my state taxes would be lower now!

The bigger question has been for years, and remains, why our "full time" Legislature is only in session for less than half of the year. See http://www.senate.michigan.gov/tvschedule/calendar.html.
I don't know about you folks, but I am expected to work M-F x 52 wks/yr
Our "full time" Legislators are expected to show up no more than three days per week, often only once a week and for some months not at all, plus they collect $70k+/yr salary plus lifetime benefits plus $1000/mo in "office expenses"
As to term limits, sorry folks, but *we* the voters are the ones who seem to blindly vote for names that we recognize without having any idea of whether the person is even capable. It doesn't matter what position that name is attached to: there's an awful lot of the same family names being elected state-wide.
