Mother Arrested on Charges of Drunken Driving, Child Endangerment

The following information was supplied by White Lake Township Police. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

 

A 23-year-old White Lake woman was arrested Jan. 10 at 12:30 a.m. after a routine traffic stop according to White Lake Police.

The woman was subsequently arraigned on charges of operating while intoxicated (OWI) and child endangerment (OWI with an occupant less than 16). The charges are one-year misdemeanors.

The woman was given a $10,000 bond.

According to the report, the woman was stopped by an officer for a traffic violation on M-59 near Meijer. The report states that while the officer was talking to the woman he noticed the smell of intoxicants.

The woman was given a field sobriety test, and failed, the report states. She registered at .12 blood alcohol level when given a preliminary breath test. The legal limit is .08.

The woman was arrested on the scene. In the car was a 3-year-old child. The report states that the child was in a car seat, but that the car seat was not secured properly. The child was turned over to a family member.

The woman remains in Oakland County Jail.

I think the real tragedy here is that an OWI and a child endangerment charge are one year misdemeanors.

People sometimes dont apreciate what they have till they loose it. It is such a shame. So simple to just stay home , have a glass of wine if you really need it. But to risk the life of your child even if you dont care about yours? shame on you it makes me sick.
