Limit the Opportunity

Most of the time criminals will only act if they have easy access to stealing little risk of being caught. You can change this equation with some common sense behaviors and habits:

Mark Your Belongings

Law enforcement agencies recommend you mark your personal property so that if it is lost or stolen, and then recovered, you can be identified as the owner. The only problem is that law enforcement agencies, including the FBI also recommend that you DO NOT put personal identifying information on your personal property because criminals can use this information for identity theft, robbery, burglary, and other crimes.

It never ceases to amaze me how in this day and age, people still leave their cars unlocked, especially when they have valuables inside them. Ron White sure hit the nail on the head when he said "you can't cure stupid". I park my car in the garage, and I still lock it. You can never be too careful!

well sometimes people dont lock them because they dont want to or cant afford to replace the glass, sometimes locks are broken. But by all means if you can afford broken door handles or glass lock it up. Better yet take your valuables inside such as cd cases, navigators ect.. Takes five mins. to take them in and not have to worry.

It seems that this subdivision is on Patch a lot for items being taken from vehicles. My first instinct says there is a drug addict (or multiple) in the area that needs items to pay for his or her expensive habit. If they see an item in a car, whether it is locked or not, they will take it. Like Robin said, take the valuables in, or hide them out of sight (glove box, under the seat, etc).
