Police Issue Warning About Social Security Number Theft

The following information was supplied by the White Lake Township Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

Three White Lake residents filed reports of social security number theft with the in the last week.

Lt. Don Nankervis said all three women discovered the thefts after filing their taxes.

"Their tax filings were denied," Nankervis said. "The women were told that someone with their numbers had already filed and received a return."

The social security administration instructed the women to file police reports with their local departments.

Nankervis said the incidents are likely not related.

Chemicals found in abandon suitcase

Police were called to the roadside near Nordic Drive after a man walking along the road found a suitcase full of chemicals.

Nankervis said both the police and fire departments responded, and that the chemicals in the suitcase were known chemicals used to make the drug meth.

"Because the chemicals hadn't been mixed yet, the fire department was able to properly disposed of the contents in the suitcase," Nankervis said.
