Police Looking for Man Who Stole More than $5,000 in Jewelry

The following information was supplied by the White Lake Township Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate convictions.

are investigating the theft of more than $5,000 in jewelry from , and asking that anyone with information on the crime give the department a call.

The incident occurred Friday at 8:10 a.m.

According to the report, police were called after a number of earrings and other jewelry items were taken from the store by an unidentified man who left the store in a red minivan.

Chief Edward Harris said police detectives are currently reviewing surveillance video from the store. In that video, Harris said, a man is seen concealing a spinning rack of jewelry. Loss prevention officers with Meijer told police, the report states, that while the rack was concealed the man removed several pairs of earrings and other jewelry from the rack, and then concealed it all in his clothes before leaving the store. The man did not attempt to pay for the items, the report said.

The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 248-698-4400.

Man cited for possession of Marijuana

A 47-year-old man from Waterford was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana after a routine traffic stop, according to the report.

Harris said the man was initially pulled over by White Lake officers at M-59 and Bogie Lake Monday at 11 p.m. for an inoperable headlight. During a search of the vehicle, marijuana was found, the report states.

The man was arrested, take to the White Lake station and released with a citation for possession of marijuana.
