Why go: The kids will be well-entertained with stories as parents can learn more about local preschools.

2. EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO 'SNOW'

Where: Indian Springs Metropark, 5100 Indian Trail, White Lake

When: 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14

Cost: $3 for program plus $5 park entry fee (unless you have or purchase a Metroparks pass, which is $25 annually - though seniors pay only $15).

Why go: Those ages seven and up will learn what, besides the cold weather and the snow, makes the winter…well, winter!

3. COLASANTI'S HOSTS LASAGNA CLASS

Where: Colasanti's Market, 468 S Milford Road, Highland (in classroom)

When: 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 14

Why go: Learn all the steps necessary to make your own from scratch lasagna using an old-world Italian family recipe! Sure, you can buy noodles, but why do that when you can learn to make them yourself?
