White Lake Citizens League Celebrates 50 Years
The celebration continues as the White Lake Citizens League treats lake residents to an ice cream social at the White Lake Inn.
The weather held out Saturday for the White Lake Citizens League (WLCL) ice cream social at the White Lake Inn.
The social marks the final summer event for the league, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.
Everyone enjoyed the ice cream and cotton candy served by WLCL organizers.
Kids had fun playing games and receiving temporary tattoo stickers and hand-painted designs on their arms.
White Lake memorabilia, including sweatshirts made by Lenny Wojewoda, were available for sale, with the proceeds going to the WLCL annual fireworks show. WLCL president Tom DeSantis said he is proud of the work the league does for White Lake residents.
The group hosts numerous events and activities, as well as works with the White Lake Improvement Board on weed control, dredging, and Oakland County Sheriff patrols of White Lake.
The WLCL boasts 263 members, about 44% of White Lake lake residents.
Their dues, contributions, and sponsorships support annual events, including the Memorial Day pancake breakfast, White Lake home tour, boat parade, fireworks, and the ice cream social.
