The White Lake Township Board of Trustees approved a request to make Carol Kehoe's position at the Dublin Community Senior Center a full-time position at the regular board meeting Tuesday night.
Kehoe's position as program developer for the center had previously been a part-time position.
In a memo to the board, Dublin Community Senior Center Director Kathy Gordinear said Kehoe currently works 35 hours a week and does not received any paid time off for holiday. vacation or sick days.
"She actually works more hours annually than a full time employee," Gordinear said. "We continue to work at our previous levels of staffing (used to be two full-time staff and one part-time staff at Dublin) even though we have increased the number of programs offered to the community."
Gordinear described Kehoe as a dedicated employee and said she has developed several new and exciting programs for the community.
Trustee Carol Burkard called Kehoe an exceptional employee during Tuesday's meeting and said she had no issue with making Kehoe's position full-time.
The board approved the move unanimously by the board, and with applause from the crowd in attendance. Supervisor Greg Baroni said the funds for Kehoe's pay increase was already included in the 2013 budget.
For the first year, Kehoe will make approximately $30,000 as program developer.
"The Senior Center could not function at its current level of operation without her (Kehoe)," Gordinear said. "I believe it is important to reward her dedication to the Senior Center as it will continue to enhance the Senior Center operations to this community."
