Dr. William Courtney and 'The Raw Truth'

The Genesys Regional Medical Center was alive with the energy of raw cannabis as Dr. William L. Courtney, M.D., spoke to a packed house on Friday, October 12. His lecture and presentation was part of an evening of education called “The Raw Truth: Smoke free, Buzz free Medical Marijuana Seminar”. Dr. Courtney shared the stage with speakers Ken Beyer from Michigan Testing Authority and the Mx Process, Nick Panessidi from Michigan Wellness Center, and Rep. Michael Callton, R-Nashville. I was honored to be Emcee for the evening.

Dr. Courtney opened the eyes of the attendees to a new world of intracellular reactions caused by the cannabis plant’s chemical composition. He explained that the receptors for certain chemicals have recently been shown to exist inside the cell, not just on the cell membrane, and therefore have far more positive effects than previously believed. His presentation contained illustrations and digrams of a highly scientific nature.

The Seminar was notable for several other reasons: samples of non-psychotropic products made with cannabis, or marijuana, were available for attendees to see, touch and try. Also available: raw cannabis juice, the subject of the Seminar’s main focus. The Seminar, the information, the samples all were offered free to the public.

Attendees participated in a scientific experiment of sorts. Participants were given a standard blood pressure test before being given the raw cannabis juice to sample. They were later retested. The result: after juicing, blood pressure went down an average of 10 points. Some people reported a greater drop, and others reported an absence of anxiety and a reduced pulse rate. This survey is certainly not science, but it is indicative of the results seen by Dr. Courtney.

Congratulations go out to Michigan Wellness Center, Midwest Multi Media Management, Mx Process and the MedJoint for their efforts in arranging the venue, the speaker, the guests and the recording. Well done!

I live in South Africa. My husband was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer March 2011. He has had no chemo or radiation. I have treated him under the guidance of doctors who have a "lifestyle" protocol to treat cancer. His response to that was remarkable, Until March this year when he overdid things by working long hours for a couple of days on end on a fundraising effort by the Rotary club he belongs to. He also hurt his back at that time and since then started deteriorating.
Since 3 months ago he has been unable to pass urine and has had a suprapubic catheter inserted. Also in constant pain and no energy. Even though marijuana is illegal in this country, it is relatively easy to get some when you start asking around. I saw the videos of the benefits of raw juice and I am very excited about the possibilities of him being totally healed by taking the juice. I just need to know the dosage. What quantity of juice and how often. He has lost a lot of weight again and a doctor told him that he is in a cachexic state. So , apart from giving him small meals of nutrition, I am desperate to start with the raw juice. I will really appreciate advice from you. Thank you, Thea Paine

Hi Thea,
I would very much appreciate it if you could elaborate on "lifestlye" protocol. What exactly did you do ? Is there any chance you could forward me an email address where we can disuss this ?
Many Thanks

My earlier email refers. I was under the impression that I was writing directly to Dr Courtney. I wrote to him on another email address, no response. As you can see from my letter, I am quite desperate. Can I ask you to please forward this email to him. I will so appreciate it. Thank you, Thea Paine

I was in Sarnia, Ontario on vacation last summer, and Canada has permits for the growing and sale of industrial marijuana plants. Interesting. That production is for the fibers which competes with the lumber, cotton and jute (all imported) industries. Now the medicinal properties of marijuana are being explored. I don't use marijuana or any other illegal substances (and will take a drug test anytime anywhere if someone else pays for it), but I have a hard time understanding why marijuana is so demonized, wile alcohol and tobacco are given a free ride. When you look at the lobbyists' and special interest campaign contributions, it becomes quite clear. States' rights, well there is a Federal Law - where is the outcry for the 10th Amendment from the so-called conservatives?

Thanks you, Frank, for the comments. I am certain the economic reasons for marijuana's continued criminality are far more compelling to authority than the many reasons we offer them as proff of the need for decriminalization. This past week's election sent a very clear message to Michigan and the nation- we are here to stay and we are extremely popular.

By the way, the fibers that compete with lumber, cotton, jute... etc... are from hemp, not cannabis. Although related cousins and both Federally illegal in the US, they are two different plants. Hemp does not contain THC where as cannabis does contain THC.

Legalize it, tax it.
Just like fireworks, people were gonna use em, but now Mich gets some tax from thier sale.

Absolutely! As long as we do not infringe upon the rights of individual patients to grow their own, taxation is the key to legislative acceptance. We already have societal acceptance.

Mark, that is a very simplistic view. If history has shown us anything it is that prohibition works and will always overcome market forces.

GP For Life-- huh? Is your posting a giant type-O or do you mean to say, "prohibition works"?

GP, I'll assume you are being funny. The prohibition of alcohol was a complete disaster that created the underground market for bootleg booze- and modern organized crime. The prohibition of marijuana has bred a market for organized crime syndicates in Mexico and has cost the American taxpayer billions of dollars in court costs and jail expenses, plus has criminalized a portion of our workforce that finds it now nearly impossible to get a job. We have created a class of people that are disadvantaged not by lack of education or through poverty but because of a bad decision at an early stage of adulthood.

Rick, I am going to go ahead have to disagree with you here. If it wasn't for prohibition we never would have seen the rise to power of the Kennedy Family and their subsequent conquest of the political sphere of our country. I mean, could you imagine a world without Ted Kennedy's leadership in the senate for 47 years? I can't. That man set the standard for drunken debauchery, and to be frank, senators today just aren't up to proof.

Also, without prohibition we wouldn't have the robust private prison industry we have today. Just look at this chart: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:US_incarceration_timeline-clean-fixed-timescale.svg

Do you want to take jobs away from our law enforcement officers and give them away to China? I think you do!

Is there anybody who attended Dr Courtney's lecture who can help me, please ? I found a "recipe" for raw juice on the internet. It said 20 juiced leaves daily mixed with 10 parts of carrot juice. This has to be taken throughout the day. Obviously leaves come in all sizes, so what I like to know is how much actual juice one can take on a daily basis. 20 average size leaves dont make too much juice, what are the side effects if one takes more ?

I was at the Seminar and can tell you that the daily dosage is small. Drank too much? You are either indica tired or sativa chatterbox. We often mix the juice with Sunny Delight and it tastes great. More information can be found on my website: www.thecompassionchronicles.com

Thank you for replying, Rick. Had a look at the website, sure has a lot of info. My immediate need at the moment is on the practical side of juicing. You say just the dosage is small, but that still doesnt tell me if a grownup drinks 200ml, 300ml or 500ml mixed with carrot juice , drunk at intervals throughout the day.

I am sorry, Thea, I can only tell you that the dose is small. The entire Seminar is online in video format on YouTube. I can put up a link to it if you want.

I've edited a blog that has a 'guide to treating yourself with dietary cannabis' @ www.hempcurescancer.blogspot.com and wonder if I could make it more accurate.
