What happened to the ditch that was next to the road way back when, did all the homeowners fill itRead More in over years and now you have a problem, call the county and have them reditch the side of the road.

I thought the cute little mouse was from Oklahoma looking around the ground at the sticks that usedRead More to be his city, then I noticed the pencil.

Couldn’t agree more! There’s often a silver lining in every dark cloud, though it may beRead More difficult to see at the time. http://troy.patch.com/blog_posts/no-maverick-molecules-brain-tumor-and-depression Sometimes you can see blessings in hindsight; God’s faithfulness in bringing you through difficult times. He is faithful even if He chooses not to heal you on earth.

Harry, You may get farther with your point by not insulting people. My initial reaction was that itRead More was too soon since they came off the endangered list. However, after reading several articles and interviews with folks in the UP, they are having serious problems since the wolves have recovered.I think this article was probably what made me see a need to control the numbers. http://www.freep.com/article/20130428/SPORTS10/304280087/outdoors-lydia-lohrer-who-determines-wildlife-fate Having said that, I'm still concerned that we may just go hog wold and kill all of them again, some can't resist a trophy. There really needs to be a sane approach by experts and not politicians and people. Experts in wildlife management.

Neal, as a Veteran I get the point that votes need to be heard, more than most. In this caseRead More though, and after having seen lobbyists bombarding drunk women in casino bathrooms for signatures I simply feel that this issue in particular is another attempt of the vocal minority to make a stand against reason. These days we have to pick our spots because there's big problems everywhere. Aside from the questionable tactics I feel that this issue is going to be managed effectively at the end of the story. Nobody is calling for the wholesale slaughter of the wolves. That said, if the cost of the population has more impact on humans in terms of attacks on livestock, pets and humans as has been happening, you can expect that these wolves will be dealt with one way or another. It's better to raise funds via hunting so that those funds create more resources towards proper management of the wolves than to leave it in the hands of justifiably angry residents with no recourse but to break the law. Sorry for the insults, I'm just tired of all the half-cocked reactions to everything with a conservative signature being turned into a whipping post for liberals. People like that don't really care about the issues, they just want to spread ignorance and hate and frankly I'm more than a little tired of the vocal minority.

Harry: I appreciate your service as a veteran. Please do bear in mind that the point is how theRead More citizenry is being denied their rights in a calculated method intended to cut their exercise off. Your commentary about wolves is what it is. I'd really like to see an even handed study by people not connected with the hunting/farming lobbies so we really know what makes sense. Stopping the people of the state from making a decision to hunt wolves doesn't mean population control for the wolf population is off the table--maybe it just shouldn't be done by recreational hunting. The process of what is going on in Lansing is not a liberal or conservative one. It is about cutting off peoples' rights if they disagree with your agenda. It is incredibly dangerous to our democracy and the fabric of our society. Currently it is being practiced by Republicans but that doesn't mean the Democrats are incapable of kind of behavior. Any elected official of either party doing this should be turned out of office regardless of what your views are of their other actions. There's no reason a conservative official doing this can't be replaced by an ethical conservative who respects our democracy and its institutions.

Karen, I completely agree with you. Not only did parents have to scramble to find day care, now theRead More kids have to go an extra day! The morning call could have simply stated that parents be responsible to get their kids to school that day if a bus didn't show up. I have lost all respect for the school board in the last few years.

So is that what you think??? Then drug test those Teachers 3 times a year, and save money byRead More stopping these PLC Days where the kids get out 1 hr early,High School only, and have 20 minutes classes for the day and pay drivers to sit in parking lots waiting for the next school to get out...why attack the transportation. We help the parents out, we safely get your children to and from and if they don't come home who do you call??? Transportation, asking the driver if their child was on the bus, where did they get off, who were they with ,,,now you drive 50-70 kids on 3 routes, twice a day and remember each one , their stops , their friends ..we do so much more then just driving...we are care takers, and we are worth so much more then money alone.

Farmington Public Schools families will be able to plan vacations three years out, now that schoolRead More board members and unions have agreed to contracts that run through the 2015-2016 school year. Teacher and support staff salaries will remain frozen through all three school years. Unions ratified the contracts before officials approved them at Tuesday's school board meeting, assistant superintendent David Ruhland said. "These contracts also help us retain our caring, talented and dedicated staff, who make Farmington Public Schools a premier district," she said. "In all, these contracts are a win-win for our staff, students, parents and community." Teachers, represented by Farmington Education Association (FEA), also agreed to 30 additional hours of Professional Learning Team (PLT)/Professional Learning Committee (PLC) time and 18 hours of additional professional development time outside the classroom. The move reduces the need to hire substitute teachers, Ruhland said. Farmington Transportation Association (FTA) bus drivers agreed to 20 hours of professional development outside of their work days. They will receive a $250 "off schedule" or one-time payment in one year of the contract, with a second planned if the district's fund balance stays above 12 percent. Board member Priscilla Brouillette noted all of the contracts represent "significant sacrifices."

Melody, Thank you for the compliment. I am a father to 3 sons, and I can not imagine the heartacheRead More your whole family must feel, and I am truly sorry for your loss. For those following Kelsey's story, yesterday, West Virginia became the 10th state to adopt theRead More Kelsey Smith Act. I can also say that State Representative Kurt Heise, who represents Plymouth Township, has shown interest in the Kelsey Smith Act. I spoke with both Greg and Missy Smith today, and they are going to send me the exact wording of the Kelsey Smith Act to be forwarded on to Mr. Heise for review. I would like to thank Mr. Heise for his time in reading about Kelsey, and his quick response to my emails. We will get this done.

We have people canvassing our neighborhood to do energy audits. When I call DTE, they tell me theyRead More have "no one in your neighborhood doing this". They have ID, but anyone can make up ID's. Royal Oak's library could easily have the same. All it needs is for the city commissioners and mayorRead More to stop crying in their beer claiming Royal Oak cannot find sufficient funds while new bars mushroom overnight with their blessings. I do not entirely blame the commission, they just do the bidding of downtown as you can plainly see by the condition of the library and the park/ashtray. There is no interest for a community oriented downtown, or to even to establish a smoke free area around the library and park where children frequent.
