Whether I hold onto my own mineral rights is not the point. Fracking depletes the water table (byRead Morep umping millions of gallons of our water, lacing that water with the fracking extraction chemicals, and then having to permanently store the post-fracked water as if it were nuclear waste), risks ground water/water table contamination by the fracking process itself, and none of those dangers can be protected against merely by my fence line. I am deeply disappointed that the voice of the citizens and readers at http://whitelake.patch.com/groups/announcements/p/fracking-meeting-in-white-lake was scrubbed from dozens of thoughtful and well-said comments down to apparently three as of last check. Nothing was rude or crude, so I am left to wonder if the fracking advertiser(s) are exercising editorial and censorship control over this forum.

Thanks Sherry for the information. I think it important for us to let our elected officials knowRead Morehow we feel. Out of 100 people in the room last night only 3 were in favor of fracking and two sit on the White Lake Township Board. It doesn't take a genius to figure out your chances of getting re-elected go down considerably when you infuriate 97% of the population...

Thats a darn good point Laura. What we have here in Michigan is water and our legislators seem toRead Morewa nt to give it away to the lowest bidder. Gas is nearly 4 dollars a gallon and a gallon of water is nearly 40 cents at the grocery store. A 10x difference. Alaska has 8% of the country's oil and each citizen gets money every year much like the citizens of Kuwait (although not nearly as much). The Great Lakes contain 1/3 of the world's fresh water and we here in Michigan have been in a near constant recession since the oil embargo of the 1970's. It is time we started putting more value on our own natural resources instead of giving them away..

Why the need for "eye in the sky" cameras along every major highway. Don't even for aRead Moremin ute tell me its to view traffic conditions and alert the general and local population of backups. It is to monitor any exodus from cities in my opinion, and to better locate you in your car if and when they want to. Have a good day... (Remember George Orwell)
