OAKLAND COUNTY COMMISSIONER JIM RUNESTAD OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED HIS CANDIDACY FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE

BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MICH. -- Current Republican Oakland County Commissioner, Jim Runestad, formally announced his candidacy for State Representative for the 44th House District on July 17th at 5:30 p.m. at the Oakland county Republican Party HQ. The seat is currently held by term-limited Eileen Kowall.

Runestad is currently serving his third term as Oakland County Commissioner for the 6th District serving White Lake and Waterford.  Since graduating from Central Michigan University in 1984 with a Bachelors of Science in Education, Runestad has started his own business, Runestad Financial Associates LLC, and has been an active member of the Republican Party.  He was a past president and among the current leadership of the North Oakland Republican Club, he has been elected and fulfilled several terms on the Oakland County Executive Committee, and he has served 10 years as Precinct Delegate.  Runestad spearheaded the change to the improved discount drug card for Oakland County residents and has proven his willingness to tackle tough issues at the local level by taking the lead in the effort to pass E-Verify in Oakland County.  If elected to the State Legislature to represent the voters of the 44th House District in Lansing, Runestad plans to continue to lead on “the tough issues” by providing solid conservative leadership at the state level, while upholding high moral and ethical standards.
