Highland Welcomes The Holidays

Santa arrives in Highland Township at a festive community tree lighting event Monday evening.

Highland Township residents enjoyed wet but warm weather for the town's annual Tree Lighting and Sing Along Event in Veteran's Park Monday evening.

Emcee Mike Maher of the DDA and Highland Feed introduced the evening's entertainers: Ms. Lapratt's honor choir from Spring Mills Elementary School and Ms. Heeber's 4th grade class from Highland Elementary School. The kids wore festive red and white Santa hats and were surrounded by enthusiastic friends and family as they sang Christmas favorites.

Santa arrived just as the children finished singing a spirited rendition of "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town." He used his special Christmas magic and the help of the children shouting "Merry Christmas" to fill the town tree with colorful twinkling lights.

The evening included cider and cookies served by volunteers from Milford High School's National Honor Society members, and visits with Santa for the kids inside the fire station and across the street from the park in the Huron Valley Council for the Arts building.
