Here's a summary of news from Dec. 11-17.

Here is what you might have missed in White Lake news for the week ending Sunday:

On Friday, White Lake Kmart Store Manager Nancy Fontaine said two customers paid off layaway bills for others, with one of them doing so on Friday. The woman gave $25 on Friday, after hearing about this national trend in the news Thursday.

It doesn’t begin until March, but residents are already registering for the White Lake Township police and fire departments’ Citizens Academy. The free, 13-week academy offers classroom and hands-on lessons in public safety.

On Thursday night, the Lady Eagles varsity basketball team defeated Milford, 46-40. Sophomore guard Dominque Zigo had a career night for Lakeland with a game-high 19 points.
