Home Tour, Other Events in Milford This Weekend

Milford Home Tour's back from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17 and Sunday, Sept. 18.

Make sure you invite your friends to come out and see some of the fine old homes of Milford.

Featured in this year's tour are:

-540 Union Street, an Italianate home built in 1883, which had significant pre-1923 changes made to it

-722 North Main, or the Wilkinson-Moore House, a prairie-style bungalow built in 1928

-645 North Main, built in 1858 in the Gothic Revival style, also is known as the Tenny-Cordone House and includes extensive gardens

-A circa-1861 inside-out (post and beam) structure located at 629 N. Main, also known as the Tenny-Gilbert house

-859 Laurel Lane, Meredith House, built in 1991, is a Colonial style home that is owned by the owners of "Your Nesting Place" in Milford and it projects a unique style vibe inside and out

-The Milford Historical Museum, 124 E. Commerce Road, is an 1853 Greek Revival structure housing the Milford Historical Society; built by local cabinet maker John Wood, it's served as a private home, a doctor's office and at one time, contained the Milford Village, Milford Township and Milford Police Department offices

-The Milford Powerhouse, an striking restored Art Deco structure built in 1938, originally was built as part of one of Henry Ford's "village industries" and is one of the few buildings built during an experiment meant to encourage the side-by-side development and coexistence of technology, modern production and farming; Albert Kahn designed a factory and two hydroelectric stations, one on the Huron River and one on Pettibone Creek to supply the factory with power.

-St. George Episcopal Church's arts and craft sale from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 17

-A tractor show from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 18 at Huron Valley State Bank, located near the intersection of South Milford Road and General Motors Road

Milford Car Show in downtown Milford (the center of the action is Liberty and Main Streets) is free and open to the public

Tickets for the home tour are $15 for adults and $13 for seniors; they may be purchased at each of the sites.
