Piano Extravaganza Features Holiday Favorites

Huron Valley Council for the Arts presents three performances of A Piano Extravaganza: An Exciting Tour de Force on Four Pianos Friday, Dec. 2 and Saturday, Dec. 3.

Experience the wonder of the Nutcracker Suite and other holiday favorites performed on grand pianos by four master pianists — Charles Aschbrenner, Jenine Bird, Katha Petroelje and Bryan Uecker —along with local guest pianists, choral groups and instrumentalists.

Organizer Walt Matzke, a Milford resident, explained the rationale behind the concert in terms of the organization it supports as well as performer selection.

“The reason I chose HVCA is because our goal in doing these concerts is community, thus the selection of St Mary's Parish Choir, Milford High School percussion, Milford Music percussion, and 250 Oak Valley Middle School singers,” Matzke said. The local guest pianists include Debra Culver, Paula Fries, Patricia Jones, Steven J. Hansen, Brenda Granroth, Cynthia Ziegelman and Kaleb Reilley.

“Since Milford is my home, I wanted to join with a group that was local to bring greater exposure to the great things the HVCA does in the community,” he added.
