Fall Fun in October at Local Metroparks

Looking for something to do this month? Check out these events at the local Huron-Clinton Metroparks.

Whether it's fall hayrides or spooktacular events, we've got you covered. Check out what's going on this month at the local Huron-Clinton Metroparks this month:

Pick Your Pumpkin Hayrides — noon-4 p.m. October weekends, Kensington Metropark Farm Center, near Milford/Brighton. Take a hayride to and from the farm's pumpkin patch, where you can pick your perfect jack-o'-lantern pumpkin. Hayride fees are: adults $5, children and seniors $3, children 2 years and younger free. Tot Time – Creepy Crawlers — 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, Environmental Discovery Center of near White Lake. Don’t be afraid, let’s learn about these amazing creatures together. Fee: $3 per child. Preregistration is required. For more information or to register, call 248-625-7280 or 800-477-3192.

The Great Pumpkin Hunt — 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 15, Environmental Discovery Center of Indian Springs Metropark near White Lake. Enjoy an old-fashioned neighborhood gathering with food and fun, sponsored by the Huron Valley Optimist Club. Children may search for clues on pumpkins to solve a puzzle during The Great Pumpkin Hunt. Prizes will be awarded to winners age 16 and younger. Fun on the Farm Halloween Party — 10 a.m.-noon Oct. 20, Farm Center of Kensington Metropark in Brighton/Milford. This program caters to the little ones. We will have story time, a craft and an activity. Our special fall party includes games, treats, a hayride and even a parade. Costumes are encouraged. Beastly Bones & Sinister Skulls — 1 p.m. Oct. 29, Environmental Discovery Center of Indian Springs Metropark near White Lake. Celebrate Halloween the biology way. We’ll learn to identify skulls and pelts of Michigan mammals. We won’t let you go away empty-handed — after all, it’s Halloween. Be prepared to make realistic mammal masks. Creepy Crawlies Under the Scope — 1 p.m. Oct. 30, Environmental Discovery Center of Indian Springs Metropark near White Lake. Think of your favorite (or least favorite) six- or eight-legged friends. Want to see them closer than ever before? Join us for some “spooky” Halloween insect viewing in the microscope lab. Participants will learn how to take digital photos of the creatures that can be emailed home.
