1. The weather

The National Weather Service says we can expect sunny skies, with a high near 44. Monday night will be mostly cloudy, with a low around 27.

2. Gas prices

According to DetroitGasPrices.com, the lowest reported gasoline price in the White Lake area as of Sunday night was $3.55 per gallon at the gas station.

3. On this day in history

According to History.com, in 1952, after a long illness, King George VI of Great Britain and Northern Ireland died in his sleep at the royal estate at Sandringham. Princess Elizabeth, the oldest of the king's two daughters and next in line to succeed him, was in Kenya at the time of her father's death; she was crowned Queen Elizabeth II on June 2, 1953, at age 27.

5. Nominations for Kohl's Scholarship

Stores will be accepting nominations for outstanding young volunteers for the 2012 Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program. Nominations for kids ages six to 18 will be accepted Feb. 1 – March 15 at kohlskids.com, and nominators must be 21 years or older. Through the program, Kohl’s will award more than 2,200 young volunteers more than $440,000 in scholarships and prizes honoring kids who have made a positive impact on their communities.
