VIDEO: Community Celebrates Urgent Care Opening With Ribbon Cutting

Officials from White Lake Township and Oakland County gathered Monday at the new St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Urgent Care for an official ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Employees of the new St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Urgent Care in White Lake gave eager groups of officials and political representatives from White Lake and Oakland County tours of the facility Monday during an official ribbon-cutting ceremony as workers from served an array of hors d'oeuvres.

White Lake Supervisor Greg Baroni called the day historical for White Lake and Oakland County. "Today truly represents the beginning of a new chapter for both the community and St. Joseph," he said.

State Sen. Mike Kowall (R-White Lake) and state Rep. Eileen Kowall (R-White Lake Township), both of whom attended the ribbon cutting, agreed with Baroni.

"It's amazing that in this economy we are in, St. Joseph has built and opened this facility," Mike Kowall said. "It's been a project many years in the making, and all of us here in White Lake are excited to welcome St. Joseph."

The facility has been open since Feb. 6, and a community open house will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at the center, located in the Village Lakes plaza off M-59, east of Elizabeth Lake Road. The event is open to the public and will include lunch, tours of the facility, giveaways and a chance for people to meet the staff.

The urgent care center is open from 7 a.m.-10 p.m. every day and offers treatment for:

  • Minor asthma-related symptoms and bronchitis
  • Minor cuts or animal bites
  • Broken bones or sprains
  • Skin rashes, sunburns and minor burns
  • Fever
  • Upper respiratory and sinus infections
  • Illness with nausea, vomiting and/or diarrhea
  • Eye infections, pinkeye, sties
  • Bladder infections
  • Skin infections (such as impetigo, cold sores and athlete’s foot)

In addition, outpatient rehabilitation (physical/occupational therapy and speech and language pathology) services will be available weekdays at the White Lake location: 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday and 7:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesday and Friday.
