'Hunger Games' DVD Comes Out Saturday, Library to Host Event

Walmart will also get in on the excitement by hosting midnight release parties Aug. 17 at stores in Commerce, New Hudson, Hartland and White Lake townships.

The Hunger Games DVD isn't scheduled to be released until tomorrow, but already residents across the White Lake-Highland area are gettings excited.

There's no telling how well the DVD will sell, but having broken several records during its opening weekend in North America, the odds are in the film's favor.

Walmart stores are selling the film at midnight, hosting midnight release parties across the country, including the stores in White Lake, Commerce, Hartland and New Hudson.

Starting at 11 p.m., Walmart says its parties will feature exclusive content airing in-store, movie trivia and more. Fans who purchase the DVD at midnight will also receive a special pack of collectible The Hunger Games trading cards, with random packs including autographed cards from one of the cast members including Jennifer Lawrence, Liam Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson. This offer will be available while supplies last.

The will be hosting two screenings of the movie on Saturday. At 1:30 p.m. teens grades 6-12 can come and watch Katniss battle the Capitol on the library's big screen. Then, at 6 p.m. adults 18 years and older can come and join in the fun.

The library will provide popcorn, and patrons can bring their own drinks. To attend, the library asks that you register by going online or calling the library.
