"Having a unique Medieval wedding, I worked closely with a seamstress that encouraged my love of sewing," she said.

How did your business come to be?: Having a unique Medieval wedding, I worked  closely with a seamstress that encouraged my love of sewing.  Realizing that there were no sewing classes available in my immediate area, I began my business through several park districts.  The response was overwhelming.  My classes were always full and parents begged me to add more for their children.  The adults enjoyed the classes as well.

What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?: For many, they don't have a sewing machine so they believe that they can not attend a class.  I actually provide four very good machines for students to use. Of course, they can use their own if they have one. I also am  flexible with my scheduling trying to accommodate the needs of my students. When possible, I also provide the patterns. The only other required cost besides tuition is the cost of material and thread. Also, classes are usually held at the families home, with tuition discounts available.

What services does your business provide?: I offer sewing classes for beginners and intermediate for ages 8 through adult.  Students learn how to use a sewing machine, read patterns, layout and cutting and putting their project together.

What do you want your business to be best known for?: I would like my business to be known for its ability to be fun while developing important life-long skills in children and adults.

What's your most popular product or service?: The actual sevice is the teaching of sewing. However, learning to sew is much more. It is a skill building program that helps to develop cognitive skills, creativity, self-esteem. Let's not forget that it is a life-long skill that students will always be able to use. Another nice service I offer: I can teach in the students home. That's right, I go to them, they do not have to come to me.

When was the business founded?: September 2003 In Chicago, Illinois

Why did you choose to locate to Waterford?: I recently returned to Michigan and settled in Waterford. I love the area because of all the lakes. The summer is always a very good time for classes and camps because the children are out of school and become bored very quickly with other activities.
