Event shines spotlight on area businesses and restaurants.

The Huron Valley Community Showcase drew a crowd of families, kids and community members on Sunday afternoon at Milford High School.

"Exploring the restaurants and businesses in your backyard" was the theme for this year's event sponsored by the Huron Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Participants enjoyed tantalizing tastes from area restaurants, a kids garage sale, a bounce house and exhibits from areas businesses in White Lake, Commerce, Highland and Milford.  Many people traded non-perishable items to benefit Community Sharing for taste tickets.

Activities ranged from a spinning wheel demonstration sponsored by the Huron Valley Council for the Arts to a special "Toys for Tsunami" Kids Garage Sale put on by Brownie Troop 20352.  All proceeds from the Brownie garage sale will go to benefit the families from Japan whose homes were destroyed in the Tsunami.

Many attendees also had their blood pressure checked by staff from Walgreens, while others tasted homemade fried cheesecake provided by the Skybox Bar & Grill.
