Visions for Vacancies: What Should Happen to the Former AT&T Store?

You don't need to be an urban planner to know what White Lake needs from this vacancy. Talk about it on Patch.

This former AT&T store closed a few years ago and this small complex near has been empty since Blockbuster closed its doors in White Lake.

What would you like to see in this space? A bakery? An Apple Store? Let us know your ideas in the comments.

We really need a Chipotle Restaurant in our area. It would be a perfect location for one.

@ Kris - I AGREE!! Have you ever e-mailed them to make that suggestion?!? LOL!! Because I think, they think, I am the only one around here that want's one!! http://www.chipotle.com/en-US/talk_to_us/talk_to_us.aspx

I hadn't even thought about a Chipotle. Because I'm really nerdy, I would love to see a comic book store.... or something cool along those lines. I hate driving to Novi for my comic fix.

A Whole Foods someplace would be awesome or a Randazzo's.

The Mexican Fiesta Cantina in Hartland is pretty yummy if you're ever over that way.

A bakery would be nice...or a restaurant. Possibly a buffet style.

I want a World Market and a Target ... but I don't think they'd fit in this spot. : )
Brooke Tajer March 14, 2012 at 09:28 PM
True... this is a fairly small space. Stay tuned though, we will feature a new vacant space every two weeks. I am sure there is one around here that will fit one of those.... or a least a spot where one can be built :)

I think we need a sporting goods store. A full-service bakery would be nice too - breads as well as pastries & such.

How about a bookstore? I know many people use online booksellers, but there is no physical bookstore nearby. There are no bookstores in White Lake, Highland, or Commerce Townships. Maybe combine it with comics? I too would love a Chipotle!

Are they still going to open Jo-Ann Fabrics and Bed, Bath, and Beyond there in the shopping center? I hope so!
Brooke Tajer March 15, 2012 at 12:25 AM
Hi Nancy, they are opening in June. We ran a story last week on it.
Bev Stus March 15, 2012 at 12:59 PM
Opens this May

I would like to see a Trader Joes

How about a Micro Brewery & Restaurant, or maybe a Famous Dave's BBQ?
Brooke Tajer March 22, 2012 at 02:34 PM
I like the way you think Greg. I'd love to see a Micro Brewery & Restaurant in White Lake.

Hi All, we are new to the area and having fun exploring the town to see what's here. I think a bakery would be great or a bagel shop. We have also been looking for a good dry cleaners close by. Any suggestions?
Brooke Tajer March 27, 2012 at 02:52 PM
Hi Susan, there doesn't appear to be one in White Lake. I know my parents go to a place in Highland called One Hour Martinizing, it's in the complex just before Duck Lake Road, off M-59.

One more recommendation for you from reader Laura: "I can, without hesitation, highly recommend "Dry Cleaning by Value" on Union Lake Rd just south of Commerce Road. The name, OK, admittedly isn't not a grabber of a name. But hands down, the best service. Never disappointed. The prices are great. PLUS there's an on-staff tailor AND an on-staff leather repair man." Hope that helps!
