Good morning, White Lake and Highland, here's what you need to know about today.
1. The weather
The National Weather Service says we can expect showers and possibly a thunderstorm. There will be a high near 67. Friday night there will be a chance of showers. Skies will be cloudy, with a low around 57.
2. Gas prices
According to DetroitGasPrices.com, the lowest reported gasoline price in the White Lake area as of Thursday night was $3.95 per gallon at the Meijer gas station. In Highland, the Citgo station on Milford Road at Hickory Ridge had the lowest gas price, $3.84.
3. On this day in history
According to History.com, in 1846, after a decade of debate about how best to spend a bequest left to America from an obscure English scientist, President James K. Polk signs the Smithsonian Institution Act into law. Today, the Smithsonian is composed of 19 museums and galleries including the recently announced National Museum of African American History and Culture, nine research facilities throughout the United States and the world, and the national zoo.
