Good morning, White Lake and Highland, here's what you need to know about today.

1. The weather

The National Weather Service says we can expect mostly sunny skies, with a high near 92. Friday night will be partly cloudy, with a low around 71.

2. Gas prices

According to DetroitGasPrices.com, the lowest reported gasoline price in the White Lake area as of Wednesday night was $3.99 per gallon at the Meijer gas station. In Highland, the BP station on Highland Road at Hickory Ridge had the lowest gas price, $3.89.

3. On this day in history

According to History.com, in 1958, the U.S. nuclear submarine Nautilus accomplishes the first undersea voyage to the geographic North Pole. The world's first nuclear submarine, the Nautilus dived at Point Barrow, Alaska, and traveled nearly 1,000 miles under the Arctic ice cap to reach the top of the world. It then steamed on to Iceland, pioneering a new and shorter route from the Pacific to the Atlantic and Europe.
