1. The weather

The National Weather Service says we can expect snow with a high near 36. Some thunder is also possible. Friday night there will be a 40 percent chance of snow showers. Skies will be cloudy, with a low around 23.

2. Gas prices

According to DetroitGasPrices.com, the lowest reported gasoline price in the White Lake area as of Thursday night was $3.67 per gallon at the gas station.

3. On this day in history

According to History.com, in 1836, in San Antonio, Texas, Colonel William Travis issued a call for help on behalf of the Texan troops defending the Alamo, an old Spanish mission and fortress under attack by the Mexican army.

There were a few Lakeland and Milford students in Milford Thursday to see Mitt Romney speak, .

Featuring local "celebrity" bartenders, live music by two bands as well as a raffle fundraiser drawing, the 18th annual Snowball Dance supporting the Joel Jeremy fund was too much fun to make it only one night. The dance takes place from 9 p.m.-2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24 and Saturday, Feb. 25 at The White Lake Inn, featuring The Snowball Band. Cost is $5 at the door for each dance. Tickets for the fundraising raffle are $20 (only 600 tickets are available). They are available through www.joeljeremy.com.
