5 Things to Know Today: June 13, 2012

Good morning, White Lake, here's what you need to know about today.

1. The weather

The National Weather Service says we can expect sunny skies, with a high near 71. Wednesday night will be mostly clear, with a low around 47.

2. Gas prices

According to DetroitGasPrices.com, the lowest reported gasoline price in the White Lake area as of Tuesday night was $3.79 per gallon at the gas station.

3. On this day in history

According to History.com, in 1966, the Supreme Court hands down its decision in Miranda v. Arizona, establishing the principle that all criminal suspects must be advised of their rights before interrogation. Now considered standard police procedure, "You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can, and will, be used against you in court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford one, one will be appointed to you," has been heard so many times in television and film dramas that it has become almost cliche.
