1. The weather

The National Weather Service says we can expect a 20 percent chance of rain after 2 p.m., but for the most part, we will have mostly sunny skies and a high near 54 degrees today. Rain is likely tonight, mainly after 8 p.m., and we'll have mostly cloudy skies with a low around 44 degrees.

2. Gas prices

According to DetroitGasPrices.com, the lowest reported gasoline price in the White Lake area as of Monday night was $3.34 per gallon at the gas station located at M-59 and Bogie Lake Road.

3. On this day in history

According to History.com, on this day in 1867, the U.S. took possession of Alaska after purchasing the territory from Russia for $7.2 million. The Alaska purchase comprised 586,412 square miles — about twice the area of Texas — and was championed by William Henry Seward, the secretary of state under President Andrew Johnson.
