Good morning, White Lake, here's what you need to know about today.

1. The weather

The National Weather Service says we can expect rain with highs near 51 degrees. Thursday night, expect a 40 percent chance of showers. Skies will be cloudy, with a low around 39 degrees.

2. Gas prices

According to DetroitGasPrices.com, the lowest reported gasoline price in the White Lake area as of Wednesday night was $3.32 per gallon at the gas station located off M-59.

3. On this day in history

According to History.com, on this day in 1947, the "red scare" hit Hollywood. As the Cold War heated up between the USA and Russia, speculation in Washington over who was and was not a communist spread to Hollywood. The House Un-American Activities Committee began a series of interviews, demanding named of communists within the movie industry. Several people were blacklisted due their suspected communist ties. Those blacklisted included composer Aaron Copland, writers Dashiell Hammett, Lillian Hellman and Dorothy Parker, playwright Arthur Miller and actor and filmmaker Orson Welles.

Join Cinco Lagos at 7 p.m. for a beer tasting featuring Michigan’s own Founders Beer. Each course includes a tasting of the restaurant's Southwest inspired food paired with a delicious brew from Founders Brewery. Discover your favorite!
