Here's what is going on around White Lake and Highland today.

1. The Weather

There is a 50 percent chance of showers and the day will be cloudy with a high near 67, according to the National Weather Service. Also, winds could gust as high as 21 mph. There is a 30 percent chance of showers for the night. It will be mostly cloudy with a low around 53.

2. Gas Prices

The cheapest gas in White Lake is $3.76 per gallon at Mobil, 8000 Cooley Lake Road, according to Detroit Gas Prices as of Tuesday night. The cheapest gas in Highland is $3.72 per gallon at CITGO, 2650 South Milford Road.

3. Today is Student Count Day

Send your children to school today because it's count day in Michigan. Count day is when all public schools in Michigan tally the number of students attending their schools. This is an important day for districts because each student in attendance translates into state funding. October's count day results represent 90 percent of state funding for the school district.

4. Knitters Circle

Join the Highland Station House fiber artists for a drop-in knitters circle 10 a.m. at the Huron Valley Council for the Arts, 205 West Livingston Road. Brush up on your technique, learn new patterns or ideas and just have fun. Drop-in knitters are welcome. A $1 donation to the Huron Valley Council for the Arts is suggested for each session.
