Here's what is going on around White Lake and Highland today.

1. The Weather

There will be a 30 percent chance of showers, particularly after 4 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The rest of the day will be mostly sunny with a high near 82. 

The night will have a 70 percent chance of precipitation, mainly after 8 p.m. It will be mostly cloudy with a low around 55. 

2. Gas Prices

The cheapest gas in White Lake is $3.96 per gallon at Mobil, 8000 Cooley Lake Road, according to Detroit Gas Prices as of Wednesday evening. The cheapest gas in Highland is $3.99 per gallon at Mobil, 238 Highland Road.

3. John Street Repaving

John Street in Highland is being repaved and will be closed to through-traffic. During the construction, the road will remain open for those doing business at the township offices, sheriff's sub-station, senior center and credit union. 

4. Highland Township Seeks Firefighters

Highland Township is looking for paid on-call firefighters because of a federal grant that was awarded to the township. Applications will be accepted until Sept. 15. Questions can be directed to the Fire Chief at Station 1, 250 West Livingston Road.

5. Milford's Farmers Market

Visit Milford's Farmers Market from 3 to 8 p.m. on Liberty Street between Main Street and Union Street in downtown Milford. It will happen, rain or shine.
