Good morning, White Lake and Highland, here's what you need to know about today.

1. The weather

The National Weather Service says we can expect a chance of showers and thunderstorms. There will be widespread fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, skies will be mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. Tuesday night there will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms before 10 p.m. Skies will be partly cloudy, with a low around 64.

2. Gas prices

According to DetroitGasPrices.com, the lowest reported gasoline price in the White Lake area as of Sunday night was $3.99 per gallon at the Meijer gas station. In Highland, the Citgo gas station on Milford Road had the lowest gas price, $3.93.

3. On this day in history

According to History.com, in 1886, Apache chief Geronimo surrenders to U.S. government troops. For 30 years, the mighty Native American warrior had battled to protect his tribe's homeland; however, by 1886 the Apaches were exhausted and hopelessly outnumbered. General Nelson Miles accepted Geronimo's surrender, making him the last Indian warrior to formally give in to U.S. forces and signaling the end of the Indian Wars in the Southwest.
