As Weather Warms, Area Golf Courses Open

Looking for a place to shake off the winter rust from your clubs? Try these local golf courses.

Spring is in the air, and several area golf courses have either opened for the season, or will open later this week. With temperatures projected to be in the 60s all week, it's no wonder area residents are looking to enjoy the sunshine and a few rounds of golf.

Indian Springs

Indian Springs Metropark golf course will open Wednesday, March 14, course conditions permitting. This 18-hole golf course covers 6,688 yards with a par of 71. The course is opening with winter rates: $13 regular, $10 Seniors/Juniors (62 and over/20 and younger) plus cart rental, on a first-come, first served basis. No rain checks are issued during winter rates.

Golf course hours are 9 a.m. until dusk daily with hours extending as daylight increases. Tee times are taken on a daily basis during the early season; tee times can be reserved up to two weeks in advance later in the season. Golfers are advised to call in advance of tee time to confirm course conditions.

Rental golf clubs, and a limited line of golf accessories, beer, wine and food are available at the golf starter building. Coolers are not allowed on the course.

A vehicle entry permit is required to enter any Metropark and is only $25 annually for regular admission, $15 annually for seniors or $5 daily. The daily permit offers a $4 coupon, good that day only, off greens fees, not valid with league play or outings.

White Lake Oaks

White Lake Oaks off Williams Lake and Pontiac Lake Roads opened for business Monday. The parks are advising golfers to call the pro shop before arriving because openings and/or hours may be adjusted due to unpredictable early spring weather.

Spring rates are valid through May 11.

Brentwood Golf & Country Club

Brentwood Golf & Country Club has announced it's opened for the 2012 season. Interested golfers can call the golf shop at 248-684-2662 ext. 1 to make tee times and take advantage of the early spring. According to the courses website, there is golf league and golf outing availability for the upcoming golf season.
