Christmas Recipe: Polar Express Hot Chocolate

Nothing says Christmas like gathering the family to watch your favorite holiday movie while enjoying a nice cup of hot chocolate.

Let me start by saying - I love hot chocolate. So, when I saw this recipe for Polar Express Hot Chocolate on the blog Honey & Fitz I knew I had to make it.

Don't be afraid when you see the ingredients - this is a decadent, rich, flavorful hot chocolate. Sorry, but it's not healthy. However, making this on Christmas Eve could be the start of a wonderful tradition and indulging in something as wonderful as this hot cocoa once a year won't hurt.

To make this delicious recipe you'll need:

  • 1.5 cups of heavy cream
  • 1 can of sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)
  • 2 cups of bittersweet chocolate chips
  • 6 cups of milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

To make, mix together all ingredients in a large pot. Then, warm slowly over low heat, stirring regularly, for 30-40 minutes. Serve with your favorite topping and enjoy!

If you have some time, or are taking this to a holiday party, you can make this in a Crock Pot. To do this, simply combine all the ingredients in the Crock Pot and cook on low for a few hours. Merry Christmas!

What is your favorite hot cocoa topping?
