1. CEDAR ISLAND LAKE FIREWORKS
When/where: Friday at dusk over Cedar Island Lake.

Why go: Free fireworks. If the weather turns bad, a rainout date is set for July 8.

When/where: Saturday 2 p.m. at Mitchell's Marina 2543 Duck Lake Road, Highland.
Why go: The boat parade, part of White Lake's Independence Day celebrations, will begin promptly at 2:15 p.m. Come out and see boats decorated for this year's theme "Christmas in July."
Price: Free.

When/where: Saturday at dusk on White Lake.
Why go: Great public spots to watch include Mitchell's Marina, 2543 N. Duck Lake Road in Highland, or , 3955 Ormond Road in White Lake.
Price: Free.
When/where: 7:30 p.m. Monday, DTE Energy Music Theatre, 7774 Sashabaw Rd., Clarkston.
Why go: DTE Energy Music Theatre is open for the summer. Go enjoy some live music.
Price: $59.50, $39.50 and $29.50 pavilion and $18 lawn.
5. MILFORD INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE
Where/when: Monday 11 a.m., downtown Milford.
Why go: Local bands, local sports and local organizations will all march in the annual parade.
Price: Free.
