Why go: Live music, kids activities and the 2011 National Inboard Hydroplane Championships make this event one of the largest, and most popular of the summer.

Where/when: Saturday 7:30 to 11 p.m. at Rolladium Skating Center in Waterford.

Why go: Bring the whole family every Saturday night for games, prizes and skating.

Price: $8 plus skate rental

Where/When: Downtown Farmington, Saturday 10 a.m. or Sunday at 11 a.m.

Why go: Our neighboring city wants you to come play in the streets today. Enjoy the Farmers and Artisans Market, inflatable playground area for kids, watch the parade, check out the live bands, magicians or puppet shows, enjoy the beer tent and ox roast sandwiches, or watch a movie under the stars. There is something for everyone at this little hometown festival.
