Highland Hey Days Hits the Streets

Highland Hey Days is this Saturday and Sunday organized by the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and the Highland-White Lake Business Association. 

Melissa Dashevich, executive director of the DDA, said the event has been around since 2005. She said last year was the first year the DDA partnered with the Business Association to put together the event.

Some of the main events to expect are square dancing, a euchre tournament, pony rides, a petting zoo and a one-mile "Mutt Strut."

"We focus on animals here," Dashevich said.

Christi Hernandez, of White Lake, said she was excited to bring her dogs, Hank and Reba, to Hey Days for the "Mutt Strut." The dogs came sporting jerseys for their favorite teams ― Hank in Spartan green and Reba in Michigan blue.
