Update: Snow Will Start After 1; Icy Storm Will Follow

A winter storm warning has been issued for the area effective 4 p.m. tonight till 7 a.m. tomorrow.

The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning, effective Sunday afternoon through Monday morning.

The most intense precipitation with the storm is predicted to start at 8p.m. and last until 2 a.m. Monday. Heavy snow and "significant icing" is expected. A total of 4 to 8 inches of snow and ice are possible, according to the weather statement.

The storm is a result of the warm, moist air we experienced this past week mixing with a cold blast of arctic air from the north. It is expected to move quickly through the Midwest and out to the east coast.
