More than $10,000 in Radio Controlled Cars and Parts Taken from Highland Car

Deputies are looking for any information on the theft of the items from a Highland vehicle Dec. 16.

Deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office Highland Substation were called to a home on the 500 block of Dunleavy in Highland Dec. 16 after someone broke into a car and took more than $10,000 worth of items.

According to the report, sometime between midnight and 10 a.m. an unknown person smashed out the back window of a 2013 Chrysler Town and County van parked in the driveway of the Highland Township home.

The owner told deputies, the report states, the he and his sons are competitive RC (radio controlled) car enthusiasts and that the van was full of cars, car parts and tools.

The owner estimates that more than $10,000 in RC cars and equipment were taken from the van. All the parts and cars had names on them, and they were hand-painted, the report states.

There are no suspects at this time, and the incident remains under investigation.
