Updated: Power is Out for More Than 400 White Lake and Highland Residents

Area outages affect residents off Ormond Road in White Lake, and along Williams Lake Road and Mead Lane. In Highland, there are small scattered outages off M-59.

Tuesday, 9:30 a.m.: More than 400 residents in White Lake and Highland woke up to no power Tuesday morning.

According to the DTE Energy outage map, there is no estimation on when any of the outages will be restored. Previous estimates no longer apply.

If you need to stay warm today, you can visit your local libraries in Highland and White Lake. The libraries are open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

A wind advisory remains in effect through 1 p.m. Tuesday and a hazardous weather outlook is in place through this evening for southeast Michigan, including Oakland County, according to the National Weather Service. A wind advisory means sustained winds of up to 30 miles per hour or gusts of 45 mph are expected, the forecasting agency says.

DTE said Monday that it anticipated outages if southeast Michigan experienced wind gusts up to 50 miles per hour, as the National Weather Service forecast, as the far reaches of Hurricane Sandy lashed the area. The so-called "Frankenstorm" made landfall Monday on the East Coast, leaving massive destruction, millions without power and at least 16 deaths in its wake, according to cnn.com.

Friday, 10 p.m.: More than 380 White Lake area residents are without power this evening as the winds caused by Hurricane Sandy continue to gust.

According to a DTE Energy outage map, residents lost power between 7:15 p.m. and 9 p.m. Monday. Affected areas include a group of homes off Ormond Road in White Lake, and a large group of homes between Williams Lake Road and Round Lake Road. Home on Mead Lane in White Lake are also without power.

Currently, DTE says power will be restored by Thursday, Nov. 1, at 9:30 p.m.

On Monday, DTE Energy spokesman John Austerberry said that the Michigan-based gas and electric company is anticipate large outages.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory Monday morning for all of southern Michigan, including Midland, Bay, Lenawee, Saginaw, Tuscola, Shiawassee, Genesee, Lapeer, Livingston, Oakland, Macomb, Washtenaw and Wayne counties. The advisory is in effect until 5 p.m. Tuesday.
