UPDATE: Power's Out for More Than 1,500 White Lake and Highland Area Residents

Area outages affect residents between Ormond Road in White Lake and Tipsico Lake Road in Highland.

Update 8:55 a.m.: Power has been restored to most homes in Highland and White Lake - though approximately 1,500 are still without.

Power should be restored sometime this morning providing relief from temperatures that are expected to stay in the mid to high 90's today.

Residents can visit the Highland Library, , Pools and Fitness Center or the Milford Pools and Fitness center to stay cool. All four locations have air conditioning and are kid friendly.

10:30 p.m.: More than 8,000 Highland and White Lake area residents are without power this evening, as the temperature hovers around 90 degrees. 

According to a DTE Energy outage map, residents lost power between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. today. Affected areas include a large swath between Ormond Road in White Lake and Tipsico Lake Road in Highland, with homes as far as Holly without power.
