Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued for Oakland County

Storms expected through 1 a.m., some may be severe according to the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has issued a severe weather watch until 1 a.m. for Oakland County and other parts of southeast Michigan.

"In addition to large hail and damaging winds, continuous cloud to ground lighting is occurring with these storms," the warning states. "Move indoors immediately."

According to the weather service, lightening is one of nature's leading killers.

"Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightening," the warning states.
