Week in Review: Township Meetings, School Board Meetings and Sports

Here's a roundup of news from the past week.

Here is what you might have missed in White Lake news this week:

  • — In our first installment of "Ask the Chief," a White Lake resident asks whether it is illegal to leave your car running, and if so, what penalties might result. If you have a question for Police Chief Edward Harris, email AskTheChiefWhiteLake@gmail.com.
  • — This week, we honored senior Ryan Zukowski. Zukowski, nominated by his friends, led the basketball team this year offensively, scoring a game-high 23 points in his final game. If you want to nominate a Whiz Kid, email brooke.meier@patch.com.
  • — In a guest article, Huron Valley Schools Superintendent Jacqueline Johnston explained the data the district used to decide which middle school should close.
  • — The White Lake Township Board of Trustees tackled several items at its regular meeting Tuesday, including the awarding Certificates of Commendation to two citizens for their actions in saving a neighbor from a burning apartment.
  • — The Huron Valley School Board of Education said it could not rescind its votes to close Highland Middle School and said during Thursday's meeting that the issue would not be revisited.
