What's Open, Closed This Memorial Day

What's open this Memorial Day? Head to the movies.

It's Memorial Day, and while offices are closed and the barbecues are fired up, you still may need to get out and around White Lake. Here's what you need to know about what's open and closed.

City offices

  • Township Offices: Township Hall including the clerk's office, supervisor's office and treasurer's department, will be closed Monday.
  • Post office: The U.S. Postal Service branch off Cooley Lake Road in Waterford, and the branch off M-59 in Highland, will not be open Memorial Day, nor will there be any mail delivery or pickup. The post office will reopen for normal business hours Tuesday.
  • Trash collection: Trash collection will not be affected by the holiday, and pickup will remain on schedule.
  • Emergency: Call 911 for police or fire emergencies. For any non-emergency, call the at 248-698-4400 or the at 248-698-3335.

Around town

  • Library: is closed Monday but reopens at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
  • Movies: Take a family trip to the movies this Memorial Day! The MJR theater in Waterford is open Monday, with screenings beginning at 11 a.m. Now showing is What To Expect When You're Expecting, Men In Black 3, Battleship and Marvel's The Avengers.

Trifles @ 10735 Highland Road will be open all weekend with normal hours for all of your sweet treats. Trifles will also be having a sidewalk sale to make room for new decor. Lots of beautiful framed food art posters, some display and furniture pieces and season merchandise. Sale starts Friday. 248-779-7359
